"One More Time" previously had been recorded by The Carpenters in 1976 for their album, "A Kind of Hush."

Seals and Crofts recorded the song in 1978 for the album, "Takin' It Easy," which was their ninth studio album. It was their last album to contain any charting singles.

Interesting note: The choral vocals at the beginning of the song include vocal performances by Carpenter band members Gary Sims, Doug Strawn, and Tony Peluso.

ONE MORE TIME

(lyrics and music by Lewis Anderson)

I'm goin' way down south to Louisiana tonight.

Well, I'll just close my eyes and everything's all right.

And though I'm really far away, I'll make my get-away.

And no one need really know that I've been gone.

One more time, for the good times,

that far outweigh the bad.

One more time, for the good times,

when love was all we had.

I'm goin' way down south to Baton Rouge, tonight.

Well, I'll just close the door and turn off all the lights.

And though the images dance by,

of those folks and friends who lie

back home where things are slow and easy goin'.

One more time, for the good times,

that far outweigh the bad.

One more time, for the good times,

when love was all, love was all,

when love was all we had.

One more time,

just one more time,

just one more time...

i like seals and crofts and think they're talented. i just think that karen sings this song more beautifully and gives it more emotional impact.

but you must understand that Seals and Crofts who made a rendition of this song is not some crappy group like todays. Seals and Croft is one of the best group in the 70's. In fact The Carpenters even made a rendition of some of S&C songs.

not bad, but not half as good as the carpenters' version. nothing can compare to karen's wistful interpretation of this beautiful song. this is one of my very favorite carpenters songs.
