On this day in 1973 {June 19th} Seals and Crofts performed "Diamond Girl" on the ABC-TV special 'Roberta Flack: The First Time Ever'...At the time "Diamond Girl" was at #23 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; just over a month later on July 22nd, 1973 it would peak at #6 {for 2 weeks} and it stayed on the chart for 18 weeks...It reached #4 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Tracks chart...Between 1972 and 1978 the duo had twelve Top 100 records; three made the Top 10 and all three peaked at #6, their other two #6 records were "Summer Breeze" in 1972 and "Get Closer" in 1976..."Summer Breeze" was from their 'Summer Breeze' album, "Diamond Girl" from the 'Diamond Girl' album, and "Get Closer" from, you guessed it, the 'Get Closer' album...

Someone reminded me of who they are compketely..just two guys who pushed the UNIVERSAL CHURCH ON ME...I rare back and said listen here seals and croft and then they said that s just who we are .., and I said were you that before ...because it didn't t seem worth mentioning and they said not that -that s you...that clarify I asked them of course knowing it's so...then what is it really about THEM ,THE CHURCH...that oh e hey said its a young church...and they said AT THAT I''d be Perfect...I said I didn't think YOU were that draconian...that oh e heyhey said you see we were right that's a tough word....I said iSN'T the music BUSINESS enough they said that's not who they really are...that's who WE could ve been...... this us who we they really are.. and besides they really a cover band... .again? I saw them +Fillmore East ,it was early on in their career as a duo .They were in a band together from the early sixties but I've forgotten the name but believe it or not I think the hit was TEQUILA

By God...that's Freddie Mercury and Qui-Gon Jinn, isn't it? Dash Crofts's vocal was way out of key, by the way.

Every time when I hear this song I think of September 1973 when we had a dance at our college (Canton, NY--Canton college). The band that played this did a good job with singing it. That was 41 years ago. OMG where does the time go?
