It's not that different from the stuff on "Songs to Remember". The production is just awfull. There is no production. Just poorly recorded stuff. Some people confuse sound with the music itself. This is a great song.btw.

Nothing sissy about 80s Scritti Politti! You don't need a tough sounding voice and angular guitars to make great music! (Word Girl/Overnite etc). But yes. this is far more pushing the envelope and would have been interesting if SP took their experimentations further.

@DollHeadProductions The LP "Songs to Remember" isn't that far away from this stylistically and I would suggest it's actually truer to the "skank" ethos they were expounding. If they had continued with the post punk genre we would have had one LP then they would have disappeared, we would be without "Wood Beez", "Absolute" , "The Word Girl" etc. But this e.p. is brilliant and shows a promise that I don't believe was fulfilled.

i wonder what skritti politti would have sounded like had they continued with the post punk genre. i discovered them through a post punk compilation, and when i researched them further, was disappointed to find out that they turned to sissy pop after the singer had a heart attack while touring with Joy Division due to stage fright and anxiety. such a shame really, I adore this song. does anyone know where I could find the original EP with their stuff from 1979? i need it!!! <3
