FLASHBACK 1986: I first heard about this song in my Spanish class during freshman year at Torrance HS from my good friend Cheryl Kubo. She kept talking about British new wave band Scritti Politti and their hit song "A Perfect Way". Soon, I started to hear it everywhere: on the radio, at the mall, at the park. And it was catchy. Scritti Politti are an English new wave group with an Italian-sounding name. Founding members, back in the late-70s, took inspiration to form the band from their studies in fine art and Marxism, as well as from the punk rock music of the Sex Pistols.You wouldn't know *any* of that from listening to this purely pop-y hit from 1985.
