I'm in love with the bossonova

He's the one with the cashanova

I'm in love with his heart of steel

I'm in love

I'm in love with the bossonova

He's the one with the cashanova

I'm in love with his heart of steel

I'm in love

How come no-one ever told me

Who I'm working for

Down among the rich men baby

And the poor

Here comes love forever

And it's here comes love for no-one

Oh here comes love for Marilyn

And it's oh my baby oh-oh my baby

What you gonna do?

In the reason - in the rain

Still support the revolution

I want it I want it I want that too

B'baby B'baby it's up to you

To find out somethin' that you need to do

Because

I'm in love with a Jacques Derrida

Read a page and know what I need to

Take apart my baby's heart

I'm in love

I'm in love with a Jacques Derrida

Read a page and know what I need to

Take apart my baby's heart

I'm in love

To err is to be human

To forgive is too divine

I was like an industry

Depressed and in decline

Here comes love for ever

And it's here comes love for no-one

Oh here comes love for Marilyn

And it's oh my baby oh my baby

What you gonna do?

In the reason - in the rain

Still support the revolution

I want it I want it I want that too

B'baby B'baby it's up to you

To find out somethin' that you need to do

Because

Oh I'm in love with bop sh'dayo

Out of Camden Town for a day - oh

I'm in love with just gettin' away

I'm in love

Oh I'm in love with militante

Reads Unita and reads Avanti

I'm in love with her heart of steel

I'm in love

He held it like a cigarette

Behind a squadee's back

He held it so he hid its length

And so he hid its lack - oh

An' it seems so very sad

(all right!)

Well I want better than you can give

But then I'll take whatever you got

Cos I'm a grand libertine with the

Kinda demeanour to overthrow the lot

I said rapacious

Rapacious you can never satiate

(ate what?!) desire is so voracious

I wanna eat your nation state

I got incentive that you can't handle

I got the needs you can't assuage

I got demands you can't meet

'n' stay on your feet

I want more than your living wage

Well I want better than you can give

But then I'll take whatever you got

Cos I'm a grand libertine with the

Kinda demeanour to overthrow the lot

I said rapacious

Rapacious you can never satiate

(ate what?!) desire is so voracious

I wanna eat your nation state.

It's a playful play on the playful reading style of playful post-structuralist Derrida, through the playful form of the pop song.

It's about the deconstruction of the pop song. It seemed very important back in the day. Now it's just important that Green and co wrote some fabulous songs and made some wonderful records. But there are some cracking lines in this song. (My favourite is "He held it like a cigarette behind a squaddie's back; he held it so he hid its length and so he hid its lack".) The Scritti song that does the deconstruction thing best, I think, is "The Word Girl". "Wood Beez" is another good example.

But to answer your question about the ambiguity, Derrida recognizes that we can successfully communicate. But he doesn't believe there's a guaranteed way to communicate successfully. Because we can always misinterpret, cite and graft speech and writing, Derrida argues, the very existence of language rests on its possibility to fail.

Derrida does talk about that, but it's more in terms of his greater projects: deconstruction and 'differance' (yup, with an 'a'). Those have to do with the fact that meaning never quite settles (a 'dog' is a certain kind of thing, but there's no transcendental 'dog' that represent all of them). A big part of Derrida is the resistance to ideas that try to fix meaning down, especially in a hierarchy (the Nazis trying to fix down what it means to be Aryan vs. non-Aryan could be an example).

Lol. But is it worth it ? I take it you understand the great man ? From what I can gather, he talks about the ambiguity and slipperiness of language. Language IS ambiguous, up to a point, but then if it was THAT ambiguous, this conversation would not be possible.

It's possible! But it does take time and effort..

Anyone actually UNDERSTAND Derrida? Me neither.

Great TUNE from Scrittl Politti ~ Forgiveness ~ "To err is human; to forgive, Divine.~ ‎3rd May 2012 Vote for Crucial Chris Dowling to be your Mayor of LONDON. The manifesto is based on HONESTY ~ FORGIVENESS and then LOVE will follow :) Love Song & Smiles Rose x ♫♥♪¨¯`♥ ¸.♫♥♪¨¯`♥ ¸.♫♥♪¨¯`♥ Despite its satirical nature, some of the things that have featured in Loony manifestos have become law, such as being able to vote at 18, "passports for pets", and all-day pub openings.

yes I love the Gand of Four - Jiang Qing was my favourite! la la city? isn't that where the ultra rich Telly Tubbies retired to??

Right with you on that; a hilarious line that gets funnier as it sinks in deeper. Problem with green is he got rich... Richer than he was ( him were a trustafarian in the first place). Just like the gang of four who live in la la city now and are up their own...
