A criminally underrated band in the overcrowded Seattle Grunge scene, Screaming Trees offered the proto-sludge of Melvins and Soundgarden mixed with a more punk influenced approach, characteristic of Mudhoney and Green River.

Gary Lee wrote most of the stuff in the beginning I've spent hours with him listening to 4 track demos that became tree songs.But Lanegan began writing lyrics early on also I think after the first two records it was Lanegan doing most of the lyrics but hey I could be wrong at some point around Uncle Anestasia Van started writing alot of great stuff also... check out his band "Valis" here on Youtube as well as "Microdot Gnome" Gary lees new works hope that helps11 years ago

@MrPumpkins1979 ha he got them from many places. they got on n cobain appeared on lanegans first solo record on the track down in the dark. cobains influenced but his voice n lyrics were his own n totally unique. like layne staley, mark arm n thurston moore. lovely unique music n people compared to todays muzak. i miss the 80s/90s.xxxRelated Videos
