I really can't see many differences between the Walker and the Bowie Version - even the voices sound similar to me! I think both versions have their justification without me being able to say which one is better!9 years ago

DB's version was the first I heard and loved it, when I heard this original version it just blew me away, I love how SW built a tension through the whole track, thick with atmosphere but at the same time a beautiful simple driving rhythm pushes ahead, quite simply perfect.9 years ago

I like Bowie but Scott wrote this song and there is no comparison that should be made. Bowie really dug on Scott like millions of others, and he wanted to feel the pleasure in doing some of the songs he heard by Scott.I assure you there are many singers that sang along with Scott's records when they came out.
