I think yer right. A'hm fae Abirdeen (the een in N/E Scotland) 'in ah wid niver say 'hed' for 'had'. Up 'is way we'd pronoonce it 'hid'. Get yer pint but 'I mannie his clearly got a Scottish accent. Got tae say, a really like Scocha's music 'n renditions. Dinnae get mi rang folks - a'hm a patriot an' nae a nationalist. with reference to malalalas961's comments Scocha have one of the best renditions of Caledonia i have heard it was my husband's favourite and he was a Dougie McLean fan and he chose this version to have at his funeral , i am proud to call the guys on Scocha my friends !

Am Scottish 'Hed' for 'Had' isn't even Scottish, it's American. So to be honest with you, I see where Plantman is coming from. I'm not having a go at the singer and saying he's American, we all know he's a Scot, but to claim in this song that 'hed' is not American is ridiculous. Since when did you ever hear a Scot say 'hed' show me one, go! show me one Scot that would, you couldn't!
