Good on her for having actual taste in music. That gives her huge points in my book.

I haven't met anyone that likes this but I'm wild about it. I love the mood it sets. Its dark, heavy (humid) feeling music that makes me want to lay back and get lost in its deep dulcet tones.

Love Scarlett, but hoped this would have sounded much better. Bold try though.

Patersons curse is a weed. The song is about Serviceton in Victoria (between Melbourne and Adelaide, not Sydney to Perth).

It might not hold up to Tom's version. But it has Soul. And I can't imagine Tom Waits letting someone else do his music without his ok. And her voice on other tracks is much more melodic. I think she was trying to capture the melancholia in this song. Maybe she just needs more time and heartache to get Tom just right,

I have to say its a brave thing, covering Tom Waits. More elitistic and pretentious fans than fans of Mr Waits are hard to find, so I'm sure this version will be ripped to shred by critics. With that said, this version really sucks balls and doesn't hold a candle to Toms original.
