I knew this before, but played by 2 (!) guitars - and that's exactly the impression she gives here. - And you can't do this as easily on a piano as a guitar player could. She is a genius - and not only for her quickness.

It's not the toughest part actually... alternating arppegios with repeated notes is hell. And then repeated notes with a different melody for the left hand. And keeping the tempo at that pace. Anyway, i am working on it atm and it is kinda hard, but it is short so it is not the most impossible thing.

It is a toccata, actually a sonata in the toccata style. In many baroque, and some romantic works there are pieces that are toccatas, even if they don't have it as name. For example the J.S.Bach famous preludes in C minor and B flat major from WTK1 are toccatas. Debussy Jardins sous la pluie is a toccata, also but it's not part of its title. That's why this Scarlatti is often referred to as "Sonata in D minor S.141 - Toccata".

It's a sonata, not toccata.

Yes, criticize her "imperfect technique", the world has known for decades she needs pedal to hide these earthly, human failures; the world also knows you are far a much better, musical and sensitive pianist, with musical values of the highest order, which would never carry you to such dreadful deeds as playing this little piece like Martha Argerich does, yes, we all know that. PS: I don't care who you are, have a nice day and thanks for watching my videos.

Thank you for clarifying.

Why would you say that?

What I love about this performance is that it is both a tour de force of keyboard technique but also a tour de force of the music. I think that Scarlatti is cheering in his grave!!!!

If some aesthetically bankrupt twit thinks Martha Argerich is "a pianist who's only good for shitting notes", then all one can say is, what glorious shit.

@Raphael: If Sancta Martha "is a pianist who's only good for shitting notes", all one can say is, what glorious shit.
