If you had this sentence you were considered hitting the yard "aggravated". Later, it developed to mean a particular type of inmate, and later, person on the street, who went hard.

"Agg" was a term that first became commonly used out here on the streets in the early 90s. It had been used in the Texas penitentiaries for some time and was used to denote a particular type of inmate, specifically, a convict who hit the penitentiary with a particular sentence--an "aggravated" sentence.
