Alan is playing the keyboards because the year before (1995) he suffered a heart attack and the doctors probably didn't think it would have been a good idea to play the bass guitar or electric guitar due to its weight (In 1997 he suffered a stroke). Woody is playing the guitar (the instrument he played before he switched to bass when Alan left and was replaced first by Ian Mitchell and then Pat McGlynn before Alan came back). Eric is playing the bass (although he mostly played the guitar, he is also proficient at playing keyboards, viola, violin, and mandolin as well as bass.

Answer: "That sure is a bass Eric has in his hands there! Wow! Never seen him playing a bass before. Looks like a Fender Precision just by the size of the neck width but I can't be 100% sure. If its not a Precision it would be a Jazz. Definately a Fender product though. He's got a pretty good bass technique going on there too, really could hear him well, a sort of "heavy" handed technique, very nice! It is definately interesting to see Eric on bass."
