Another beautiful song by Sarah Slean.

Lyrics:

"Loud mouths, suits and ties

Liars with money and girls

The kind you fit in your pocket

I can't save them from this darkness

My sisters I love them all

My faery's pinned against the wall

I know what you want. I know.

Doll, made of paint and china

Our worth lies only in these

But you're real to me little bones

Will you break his legs like twigs now?

There's pain here you'll never have to feel

Never have to feel.

And I would fight a thousand men

I'd fight fire and wind and rain

I'd cry a river of tears fro them

The bodies floating there

Christ-like and bare

Tell me is that fair?

There are some things I can't forgive. Some things.

Jesus, I thought we had an understanding

The fact that you can buy a woman

Makes me want to die

And where were you last night?

Jesus. Jesus. Where were you?

And I know what you want.

I know it all too well.

I know. I know. "

Another beautiful song. Although to be honest, the lyrics are a tad preachy and cliche, once I read them for their meaning. Whatever. Slean is a major talent.

When she says "that you can buy" it sounds a little bit like chicken balls to me. >.< I loved this song as a kid, but that always ruined the mood a little.

To those wondering where this recording came from (not the Universe version), I believe it came from a compilation she did way back in the day called Women and Songs 2. It ended up being a little different than the Universe one. Regardless, just a devastatingly beautiful song.

Thank you for posting and including the lyrics. I'm curious as to where this recording is from as well....Sarah performs this song very rarely.

Beautiful. Sad...very sad, but Sarah sings with such an intense sensitivity, it's unmistakably beautiful and haunting. Especially her earlier works. But I have a question for you: Where is this version from? I have Universe, but there is a different recording of this song on it. Is this one live? Thank you for posting!
