Whilst names are being thrown around, don't forget Billy Fury's version. The song title was also the name of the excellent stage show about his career.

@youtootube99 Well, TO EACH HIS OWN ! I still think Bobby Vinton had the better version AND I like His Version BETTER !!! Not a much of a Tony Orlando fan !

@kjdoowop; I also like Sandy Posey's Music BETTER than Anything that Tony Orlando & Dawn did ! Tony Orlando & Dawn only had a few Big Hits that I liked. " Knock 3 times " , " Candida " , and " Tie a Yellow Ribbon around the old Oak Tree " , whereas Bobby Vinton had a big Hit Song with just about everything that he ever sang & recorded, Same holds true for Sandy Posey !

@kjdoowop I never even heard of Tony Orlando UNTILL he became famous as " Tony Orlando & Dawn " , and started hearing ALL of their big hits on the radio, but that was after I had already heard Bobby Vinton's hits all over the Radio and had for several years ! And I never have heard Vinton do Polka ???? And yes, I do like Bobby Vinton more than Orlando, always did and always will! Like I said, TO EACH HIS OWN !!!

@BearStar1 A lot of people don't realize that Tony Orlando had a few hits in the early '60's, long before he made a comeback with Dawn in the '70's. They thought Tony was a brand new artist.

@kjboogie May be so, but Bobby Vinton was a Big STAR long before anyone ever knew who Tony Orlando even was! And even tho Orlando was a good singer/entertainer, Bobby Vinton could outsing him anyday of the week! I was buying Bobby Vinton records way back in 6th grade , LONG BEFORE ORLANDO EVEN had any Records released !!!And even tho Orlando and Dawn had some great hits, Bobby Vinton had More and was a better Performer ! {My opinion,To each his Own ! }

@BearStar1 FYI, Sorry, but this was done by Vinton in 1968. It charted 28 on the US charts. He also covered many other early hits by various other artists.

@BearStar1 Tony Orlando was the first to record it, in the early 1960's, Billy Fury recorded a UK version just after Tony's version, and Bobby Vinton's version was a remake recorded in 1968 which was also a great hit. Bobby Vinton did remakes of a lot of old hits and make them popular all over again.
