I simply don't get it. It's cheesy and magnificent! Her voice Is simply pristine. The augmented phrases at the beginning grab your attention with their quiet intensity. In the 2nd verse, a tribute to the Statue of Liberty, with it's awful 4/4 post-disco styling, Sandy shows her brassy Broadway boldness. And then the ending... Holy Crap! It's glorious in it's almost tortured climax as Sandy soars... but it works! It's cheesy and magnificent! Hate to admit it, but I get choked up almost every time.
