Sure sounds like Sammy Walker. And a pleasure to hear him after all these years.

this track is from the first Folkways lp he cut, the version on Sammy Walker (Warner Bros..) is more fleshed out. I know because I have the record and listen to it relentlessly. He is NOT Dylan, and if you're really listening, you'd hear John Prine in the soup as well (esp in the production of his first record for Warner.(Sammy Walker-Sammy Walker). Give the man props..he deserves it.

If anything, Sammy sounds like Bob Holmes, not Dylan! Can anyone upload Sammy's song, "Guns and guns and guns?" A great, great song.

why can't people read? Please give Sammy credit for his own song. This is the final and definitive comment....SAMMY WALKER and not Bob Dylan. Get a fucking life already. Sammy is a great artist and he is not Bob Dylan.

there may not have been a conspiracy to assassinate JFK, and we probably landed on the Moon in 1969,but this is Bob Dylan."it's hard to dream within a scheme that says your soul, can't be redeemed and Silent Night isheard outsidemy window."

Maybe you should all ask Sammy- he is on Facebook and has e-mail, his newest recordings are on Ramseur Records and he is talented songwriter, and performer without all this Dylan crap!!!!

Sounds like Dylan, not Woody Guthrie, although the influence can clearly be heard. When I first heard "Sultans of Swing" not yet knowing who Dire Straits was, I thought it was Dylan with a hot guitarist. It's hard not to sound like your favorite artists. The Beatles aped Buddy Holly, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, etc.

This comes from the 1976 eponymous album 'Sammy Walker' on Warner Brothers. Sammy is from Georgia, and another album of his, from 1979 on the Folkways label was titled 'Songs from Woody's Pen' featuring songs from Woody Guthrie. Both Dylan and Sammy emulated Woody's style, hence the similarity.

@natalie20136 well yeah people might think that he is trying to be dylan, and he was influenced by dylan anyway, but i think that he just was making folk music lasts, when i heard him by the first time i never get to think that he was imitating dylan i just thought "god i can't believe someone can do it so well and its not dylan!"

Once again, seriously guys, this is no impersonator. His name is Sammy Walker, a musician in his own right. He has done CDs, though nothing to compare with this track. Tune guitar to open A if you're tuning up, or just lower 1st, 5th and 6th strings down a tone (2 frets) from standard tuning. I have the lyrics (only personally transcribed but reckon they're right) for anyone who wants them.
