Sammy Hagar performs "Three Lock Box" at Farm Aid in Champaign, Illinois on September 22, 1985.

A performance from the first Farm Aid benefit concert. Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp founded Farm Aid and serve on the board of directors. The three agreed that family farmers were in dire need of assistance and decided to plan a concert for America. The show was put together in six weeks and was held on September 22, 1985 in Champaign, Illinois before a crowd of 80,000 people. It raised over $9 million for America's family farmers. Performers included Bob Dylan, Billy Joel, B.B. King, Loretta Lynn, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and many more.

Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's Board of Directors in 2001 to help further Farm Aid's mission of keeping family farmers on their land.

When does he make his "You all are a bunch of tractor pulling motherfuckers" comment? I heard that promptly and prematurely ended the televised portion of the SH set.

Yes, the sound man must have sucked, but Sammy puts on a real rock show, ten times better than Roth ever thought of.

Agreed! DLR is an excellent show-man but, a singer ---he is not. Sammy is an excellent front-man, singer, guitar player, and songwriter.

@ominousinc If you are a "Freddy Guy" what about Freddy Mercury? Dude, stop bagging on Sammy. He is real. Yeah, he made some fashion mistakes, who didn't? but he is genuine in every stage of his career and rocks it out hard!

@ominousinc he does seem like a big dummy in the beginning of this video clip, AND I think he ruined the Van Halen I loved when he took over the vocals, but... You HAVE to give Sammy Hagar props for his super serious skills on the 6 string. The dude can just shred and tear up some lead guitar. He's one of the best. Which is why I never understood why he ruined Van Halen's mojo by joining them? So, Hagar is an egomaniac but he can shred with the best.

@ominousinc I saw Sammy Hagar a couple of weeks ago. He was amazing, and he was wild. He enjoyed his performance. THAT'S something most people don't do anymore. Rock n Roll doesn't have anything to do with enjoying the act, but most Rockers have more fun than other performers.
