Sammy did a lot of stuff that didn't do him jusitce - C&W?!? - but his Reprise sessions were what I consider the best of the entire Rat Pack library and some of the greatest recordings in any genre. The guy could rock like Cobain.

I know he's dead, but that doesn't mean Michael Jackson never existed.

On this day in 1969 {March 15th} Sammy Davis, Jr. performed "I've Gotta Be Me" on the syndicated TV program 'The Hollywood Palace'... Three months earlier on December 14th, 1968 it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #11 and spent 16 weeks on the Top 100... And on January 25th, 1969 it reached #1 {for 7 weeks} on Billboard's Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks chart... The song was originally from the 1968 Broadway musical 'Golden Rainbow'... RIP Mr. Davis {1925 - 1990}

Ironic that you say that when this is a cover to Frank Sinatra's song. *facepalm*

@glammer Thanks a lot for the info. I'd also like to find more footage of the Will Mastin Trio. There doesn't seem to be much available from that period, and the 50's. I want more dance footage from that period.

@bolder2009 This track is from a Reprise double album called "The Most Beautiful Songs of Sammy Davis Jr." All my SDJ tracks here are from that or "A Treasury of Golden Hits," also on Reprise.

@glammer What album is this version on? Is it from his Reprise sessions?

I really like this arrangement. It still swings hard.

@tweezee Totally agree. Most people only seem to know Mr Bojangles, which is a showcase for his dancing more than his singing.

Sammy Davis Jr is the greatest entertainer ever to me.
