Damn, I thought the purpose of a cover was to recreate the song…if he (sam) wanted it to sound the same as the original, he wouldn't have used a piano arrangement. Just bc you like the original better doesn't mean that this isn't good. His voice/pitch is almost perfect, definitely has a softer feel but it's good af ! Plus he's hot so.. I don't really see the problem here.
