On this day in 1958 {March 22nd} Sam Cooke performed "Lonely Island" on the ABC-TV program 'The Dick Clark Saturday Night Beech-Nut Show'... Five days earlier on March 17th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #26 and also spent 13 weeks on the Top 100... Between 1957 and 1966 he had forty-three Top 100 records; with four making the Top 10 and one reaching #1 {"You Send Me" for 3 weeks in 1957}... R.I.P. Mr. Cooke {1931 - 1964} and Mr. Clark {1929 - 2012}...
