This charming British Nigerian was born Helen Folasade Adu but to the world and her fans, she is known as Sade. She was in fashion designing before she turned her interest to music and singing. Sade hit the music world in 1984 with her very successful debut hit album “Diamond Life”, which sold over six million copies and gave Sade the title of “Best-selling debut ever by a British female Vocalist”. Over the years, Sade and her band had produced successful albums with several chart hit songs. They received the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1986. Sade, herself, received her first nomination for the Brit Award for Best British Female in 1985, and was nominated five additional times: 1986, 1987, 1989, 2001 and 2002. “Love Deluxe" was released on 26 October 1992. It peaked at number three on the US and sold 3.4 million copies in the United States. The album was later certified four times platinum by the RIAA. In 2000, Sade released “Lover’s Rock”. It reach #18 on the U.K. chart, #3 on the U.S. Billboard chart, and was certified triple platinum by the RIAA. On 27 February 2002, the album earned Sade the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album. In 2010, The Sunday Times names Sade the “most successful solo British female artist in history”.
