As a former DJ, I ventured here, there and everywhere for the groove that other spinners probably didn't have. Back in the 90's the disc jockey didn't compete with his pier, but perhaps we should have gotten behind one another, and then perhaps club play wouldn't have suffered the internal breakdown and disconnection from patrons fanfare. I mean this to say--that tasking the other guy who became a slave to the Hip-Hop subculture and forgot to honor those to whom would dance instead of drinking, of the individuals who thought to unwind and decompress over their hectic work week, family commitment, trying time or depression..., and would want to dance, had been abandoned by the establishment of honoring fun, socialization and culture for what Mom tried to teach us so that we might meet nice people, share a commonality and 'paint the town red.'Anyway, Sade had a bootleg House mix, I never owned a copy, though YouTube comes through once again, and I can reminisce on the challenges of staying relevant during such times. I feel as though I lost back then, but today I gain that elusive, unauthorized Sade track. America is really a good place (and that's coming from an American, heart-and -soul).
