I remember listening to this album around the time napster came out and somehow I ran into this band with a search query 'hardcore'. I was into some punk and grunge at the time and when I heard this band I was absolutely floored. I'd never heard any metal, let alone extreme metal of this caliber. I still haven't really heard anything quite like sacramentum. They combined black and death perfectly. The guitar work and song writing is brilliant, and the drumming goes perfectly with it. I still can't believe how good they were to this day. Way ahead of their time. It took me many years to really appreciate them, I had to work my way up from hardcore, to metalcore, to death metal, then black, to now. I first heard their albums back in '97, so it's been around 17 years. Man I'm getting old, FML. I guess you could compare them to Dissection, but sacramentum was more original imo, they were more riff oriented.
