Sacramentum - Far Away From The Sun from the 1996 album "Far Away From The Sun"

I travel as I sleep,

funeral silence is cast over me.

As I sleep I feel the night embrace me

and I float under a black sky without stars.

I have seen the eternity,

I have seen the eons rise in my dreams.

Light of heaven is fading away,

as I fly away from the sun.

I feel the ocean of chaos surrounding my soul

and I hear a voice speak softly:

- Reach for thy goal!

Once again I feel the ocean of chaos

penetrate my soul.

I entered a mystical grey dreamviod

which I had no access to.

The atmosphere were dim and cold,

harmonic with it's purple.

I flew through a stunning beautiful landscape

of frozen forests.

A building began to rise far in the distant,

where the sky meets the sea.

In the faint horizon

a castle began to take form

surrounded by icemountains.

The castle of myself.

As I drifted closer I knew I was there,

in my divine dimension

that my visions had shown me for years.

This time my journey was forever,

I knew there was no turning back.

I had found the castle of myself

and I fell asleep far away from the sun.

They're more than just a Dissection clone, a very good band in their own right.

+GoldenGateNum9 Sear Bliss is cool (Magyar Metal!) but only a handful of BM albums are as good as Far Away From the Sun. The songwriting is incredible and evokes such powerful emotions. Even if they rely too much on tremolo picking (arguable), their use of melody and counterpoint is among the best in metal.

It´s perfect! I don´t overrate this gem. It´s one of the three best Black Metal Albums with Storm of the Light´s Bane and The Somberlain. I listen to Black Metal since 12 years and these three are down the line the best of them.

If you think Storm of Lights Bane defines Swedish black metal, you have a lot more exploring of Swedish black metal to do. I'd suggest going Finnish for black metal anyways.

Tbqh the non BM influences were always there and it's arguable that Dissection in many aspects were still more of a death metal band (just with stronger BM overtone than was the norm), it's just on the debut they didn't try to directly quote these influences as much.

Somberlain was quite great, Storm of Lights Bane got far to pedestrian and watered down by non-black influences for my ear. This Sacramentum album is perfect.

Yep. This is one of those albums that requires repeated listens in order for everything to jump out at you, so it ends up coming off as noise to someone who isn't familiar with that type of production. The beauty is buried.

U mean that band named Blasphemy? Yes that's also better than Dissection imo ;)

A lot of it is purposeful though.

That isn't true at all, lol. Just a lot of it has lo-fi production.
