The Thirty Years' War (1618-1648) was one of the longest and most destructive conflicts in European history, fought largely as a religious conflict between Protestants and Catholics in the Holy Roman Empire. The war, disease and famine brought death to about 8 million Europeans, in some parts of Southern Germany only one third of the population survived.

CAUTION!

I won't tolerate any racist, discriminatory or in any other form inappropriate comments! This song neither glorifies war, nor National Socialism, but should be considered as a historical work.

"No, we don't glorify anything, we just tell stories about things that have happened." (Rikard Sundén, founding member of Sabaton)

Please support Sabaton and purchase their current album Carolus Rex.

----------

This song spells out one of my fears of this modern age. I am a former soldier in a reserve component of my nation's military. As I watch and read the news coming out of the rest of the world I fear that we are entering a modern Thirty Years War that will only end in Armageddon.

Thirty Years War was dreadful, but it was nothing compared to Mongol invasions. Atrocities which those Mongol savages committed went far beyond what European nations could do to each other, at least until WW2. Thirty Years War, at least, had its's causes; Mongol invasions were conducted solely because of bloodlust.

Heres the Translation From the Seedish Version, Just as depressing. T_TI look around and see my home fade out My time at home now feels too short Only youth, barely a man when duty called me If hag get to see my home again I know not Among fellow from my village so I pulled into battle And the world burned In war there can Destroy a man I give my life for my country But who miss me? So see me as the A spouse, a friend, Father and son who never comes home But who mourn me? Went out in contravention of Sweden, was baptized in blood Out there waiting for death, not heroism In fields where kinsmen fall, you will not hear song Challenge our destinies, yet again Far from home Baptized and die in combat And the world burned In war there can Destroy a man I give my life for my country But who miss me? So see me as the A spouse, a friend, Father and son who never comes home But who mourn me? And when my time has run out Who cares where? They struggle on Can a soldier a worthy end? Get to sleep Vanishing removed And never wake up In war there can Destroy a man I give my life for my country But who miss me? So see me as the A spouse, a friend, Father and son who never comes home But who mourn me?

They all said God was their reason...Because the fucking ALL MIGHTY GOD can't do his own work...I doubt a god able of creating a universe would need or want this...

For some reason, I keep on picturing some kind of a dictator who mourns over the death of maybe 50 or 500 soldiers, some of them his friends before, and of maybe 1 person who carried a flag for those soldiers, that person being that dictators daughter or son, maybe, just maybe, I just keep on picturing that.Wars. Ugly. They're ugly. >.<

It's crazy that even now days greed, hidden behind the pretest of religious righteousness, has the power to make thousands of people to kill each other

If you think the thirty year war was because of religion you are either uneducated in the history of the time or just plain dumb.
