I started with this album, and then Love Is Hell, Cardinology, and most of the others sometime after, but this is one of my favorites still. I really love the style since you don't hear it much these days; sort of a straight, literal Rock N Roll, no other way to describe it. Not punk, not country, but something in between. My other favorites would probably be Cardinology, Easy Tiger and Gold, but damn this stuff is great even with such a different style.

this is probably my least favorite Ryan Adams album (if I had to say I had one). This album has grown on me quite a bit though when I started listening to The Replacements. I think they sound like the Replacements/ Husker Du on this album.

You're talking absolute bollocks. Elliott Smith was a suprememely talented musician and song writer, that's why he's so popular. Both he and Ryan Adams are awesome; that Elliott's dead is neither here nor there. There's no competition between them. Good music should be loved for what it is and not used as some childish proof of superiority. All this insulting other artists needs to stop.

To be fair I love Elliott Smith, but listen to everything Ryan Adams has done; he has a far more impressive body of work than most people. It's not an exaggeration to say he's one of the all time great songwriters. If he died tomorrow he would be deified, that's the sad truth, he won't get his due till he keels over, which I hope isn't gonna happen anytime soon.
