I love hearing as many versions as i can, they all vary, even during the same tour. I think out of the 20-30 I have heard, only one didn't impress me, but i can't say i disliked it either.

Forgive my ignorance, but I won't know unless I ask. What do you mean DW's?

Excellent sound Quality, it is nice to see him, but the Audio is what is important. TY for uploading.

IMO, the Ludwigs were the best sounding drums Neil played, though a lot could be tuning and heads. Listen to recent N.P. and the DW's sound MUCH better, more 80's sounding and not "boxy" like his previous DW kits.

@Vince1961 The RTB kit and the Counterparts kit is actually the same kit, just refinished and minus a bass drum.

@Vince1961 neil didnt ever have a blue kit, maybe your thinking or the turquoise kit? but that wasnt till RTB tour. i believe this color is called "plum crazy" like the old school mopar color. regardless Neil is god.....

Uh, I made a mistake. The kit shown here are the Ludwigs from Counterparts. The kit on display at the R&R Hall of Shame (because Rush still aren't in) are the blue Ludwigs from Roll The Bones. No matter - I honestly believe his Ludwig kits were his best-sounding. Again, my sincere apologies to DW. Alan White's Ludwigs always sound amazing live too. Although I play Yamaha drums, these observations have caused me to think - a lot!

I agree, it is his best sounding drum kit. No offense to DW, but it's time for many drummers who have been buying into John Good's voodoo for years to realize you don't have to spend $10,000 on a drum set to sound good. I walked around this kit at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and marveled for hours. It was assembled on the riser...put together exactly as you see it in this video. Back to the sound, it's important to recognize these were made before Ludwig went to 100% maple shells. Touche', DW.

Is it me, or is this his best sounding drum kit?

this is an awesome solo! some of the tags are wrong though. Neil used Ludwig at this time, with Zildjian cymbals, he used Tama from 1980-1987 and started using Sabian in 2004, around time for the R30 tour. Thanks for posting though! :)
