Oh by the way!.. if Sir Alex chose to be the best classical guitarist ever!....he would simply just do so. He is way to modest to say indifferent. A true humble Canadian not wanting to be bravado. He is always down playing his talent and not interested in bragging. Bragging about someone's gifts are always left for others to speak of.

Wow.......talk about your point of view! To think Alex L. doesn't think he's good at playing the classical guitar. Compared to whom-Andre Segovia? I didn't know Steve Morse was known for his classical work. Having a fine, complex, well performed (live, no less) piece of classical guitar music as an intro to a rock song is a true feat of skill IMO. Maybe is just didn't fit their musical evolution into the 80's and Alex was being humble?

This is a great moment caught in Rush history......It's like "Exit stage left" with "Signals" mixed in with it......GOOD STUFF! Also showing Rush's apperance evolution ( Alex's new "preppy" hair cut / Geddys "Miami Vice" looking jacket and bass / Neil....not much change ...I wasn't sure if the pony tail was real or clip on

Alex, we want Broon's Bane. It is the bane of our existence not to have the beautiful Broon's Bane in our records.

This is probably the finest song ever produced. Bubbles would agree, no?

Broons Bane is just a piece that Alex penned to play as a lead up to the Trees.

@Pictor100 I wondered the same thing. Video cameras in those days were large, shoulder carried pieces of equipment. Most would do video capture only and would have to feed to a separate, but equally large, video tape recorder. I'm thinking this individual might have worked at the venue to get this in and set up. And kudo's to that person!

I'm glad that they edited out the audience on the vinyl itself, I couldn't hear the intro to The Trees in this video.

@bearmare ok yeah so he said he wasnt as comfortable playing it, and yeah, i know steve morse can kick the shit out of a classical guitar. BUT it still sounds sick ass, and its a well written song... IMO. im not for comparing musicians to each other because someone will always be there to play the devils advocate. but please man dont hate on this cause " he cant play it as good as the other guy" Thats not what music is about

Oh man!! Geddy should've had his synths set to the sound/tone that we hear on this recording for ESL. Sounds SO much more ethereal and renaissance like! \m/

@MrGuit4r2009 i think Broons Bane was only a live song for the live album, for the producer...
