I sent this to my guy 3 months ago. and he needs to hear it again, hope he is at least listening to his music. Here's to bad weather, and all the hard things we've been through together. Here's to the golden rule and survival. All is good here.

Like almost all of us, Tom had to realize that our generation's greatest musicians are dying off at a frightening rate. To add to some of us passing from age related issues, we are still in the position of seeing our best succumb to drug use. Same scene, different century. Pretty soon, if this continues, we'll be back listening to the "Top Ten" again. Fantastic song. Hits between the eyes...

Think so? I'm still running. In circles it seems. Glory and survival. Staying alive. I think dianabee12 knows who I might be. I don't remember. Peace to you my friend...

Innocent crimes. Kinda odd oxymoronic line; ya gotta think on it a while. I don't feel innocent. I think my crimes can stand on their own and my guilt is obvious. Taking your remark from the Biblical perspective is an interesting exercise; do ya think that's what T.P. was writing/ singing about? Reading as always too much into too little? Peace...

You're with me tonight on this dark highway We've run it together so many times We've run it for money We've run it for music We've run it to pay for our innocent crimes

Lyrics #3: Honey here's one to glory Here's to bad weather And all the hard things We've been through together Here's to the golden rule and survival And to stayin' alive It's the runnin' man's bible Here's one to glory and survival And stayin' alive It's the runnin' man's bible

Lyrics #2 con't... Who shoulda said somethin' It was not in my vision It was not in my mind To return from a mission A man left behind Here's one to glory And survival And stayin' alive It's the runnin' man's bible I don't speak of the times I've nearly died I don't speak of out lastin' those who are gone Or the things I've done I care not to remember Or the desperate measures That might have been wrong

You're with me tonight on this dark highway We've run it together So many times We've run it for money We've run it for music We've run it to pay for our innocent crimes I took on my father and I'm still walkin' Took on all comers in some shape or form And I see with the eyes of somethin' wounded Somethin' still standing after the storm Here's one to glory and survival And stayin' alive It's the running man's bible I been next in line I been next to nothin' Been next to bystanders

Rocker Tom Petty wrote new song "Running Man's Bible" during a flood of emotions about former bandmate Howie Epstein's death. The Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers leader has often struggled with Epstein's 2003 drug-related death, admitting the bass player's narcotics use had turned him into an unpredictable band mate - but he was still devastated after hearing of his passing. ... more: aceshowbiz . com/news/view/w0004054.html

... In a past interview, Petty said, "He was just degenerating on us to the point where we thought keeping Howie in the band was actually doing him more harm than getting rid of him. His personal problems were vast and serious."
