Since I do not play guitar for money (once in awhile we got a bit) I refuse to play any music I do not respect. A gig calls for me to play REM and INXS, I refuse. I think that wedding I refused to play actually requested Everybody Hurts :-)

I certainly don't love REM or INXS. But I have to be able to play that sort of pop or dance music because you never know what kind of gig will present itself.

That doesn't sound right Tricker. Clearly from watching all your vids ( and I love em all by the way) you already learn and know and love many different styles. I want to learn everything from Django to Doc Watson to Johnny Winter to Scotty Moore etc etc. It is infinite the music I love. I am 46 years old and all I wanna do is play the music I love. As far as I'm concerned, life's too short to only stick to music I really love. If I did that, I wouldn't learn different styles.

And isn't life to short to play songs you can't stand tricker? I was aked to leave my last band cause I refused to play the Macarena and Celine Dion's Titanic theme (whatever the hell that tune is called) at a wedding. And I still do not regret that decision. Don't get me wrong, it was nice of you to fill a request. Can I request some Flock of Seagulls ???? :-)
