Without the increased emotion/volume/"screaming" there is nothing but a sweet little melody.  Loved it.

(Well this may well be my interpretation, but...) He yells/raises his voice like that because he interprets the song as him being angry with the one he loved. So he yells in anger and frustration on why they separated, and how time was wasted in the relationship. But he hesitates yelling, and then suddenly stops yelling (or gradually softens his tone) because he believes that their love was/ is still delicate.
