This song was written in 1927 by Mary Robbins and Johnny Noble for the grand opening of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. The song describes the beauty of the hotel, its green marble walls, velvet beds and the view of the waves that washes upon the sandy shores just in front of the hotel.

I miss hearing this beautiful song downtown on Hotel Street at Kei Kai's on Sundays. It is such a shame that such wonderful bar had to close. Still looking for somewhere to listen to soothing Hawaiian melodies on Sundays.

Takes you back to days when the 'Old Hawaiian Way' was the thing. Now it's all noise and strange in Waikiki. How I miss the days in 1950-1960. Lived in Kailua and miss it so.

I grew up in Hawaii. Now I live in California. Yeah, I miss my old Waimanalo and Kailua. This was my father's favorite song -- the Gabby Pahinui version. He used to dance around the house singing it. This brings me home!

Fun video of a grand old hotel. I first was exposed to this pink lady, listening to the Arthur Godfrey show broadcasted from the hotel. It turned a kids dreams into reality as I milked the cows in the barn.
