"Cry Softly, Lonely One"Cry softly lonely one It's over, it's said, it's done Don't let your heart break down He's not the only one So you're blue, and lonely too Don't fall apart And when the teardrops start You can cry, cry to me girl Cry, cry to me girl I'll be standing by I will dry your eyes But for now, cry softly lonely one Cry softly lonely one Your heartaches have just begun And though they linger on Carry on, be strong You're baby's gone, left you alone But I'll stand by you On the long nights through You can cry, cry to me girl C'mon and cry, cry to me girl From this moment on Don't cry all alone You can run to me, come to me You can cry to me Tonight and forever, lonely one

Roy Orbison ist ein fantastischer Sänger. Elvis Presley wußte wovon er spricht, er hat Orbison`s Stimme auch sehr bewundert. Elvis for ever! Orbison ein Spitzensänger!

I haven't heard of "Shook Up," but I will look it up on Youtube and listen to it. Bill Dees certainly co-wrote "Oh, Pretty Woman" in 1964. I think he sings harmony on that. Joe Melson is the main collaborator in the early '60's, then Bill Dees comes in. (Dees also wrote "Windsurfer," on the MYSTERY GIRL album, released just after Roy's passing.) Dees made some very nice albums in the early 2000s. He co-wrote "It's Over" and other mid-sixties Orbison songs.

I thought it was Bill Dees. Hey, Coincidentally enough I just been playing "Shook Up" by Joe Melson (Hickory), co -written by Roy, which is YT. You know that one?

And that's Joe Melson singing the harmonies. He co-wrote, and sang harmonies on, several of Roy's iconic songs, among them "Only The Lonely," "Blue Angel" and "Cryin'." They got some ladies to sing on "Blue Bayou," but their intricate harmonies had to have been constructed by Melson. He gave Roy Orbison vocal training. The operatic singing style was developed under Melson's training, after Roy's Sun Records phase. When he went to Monument, he had a range he had not shown before.
