Dear Drum God's please forgive johnny albeit he know's not what he talks about.Buddy was a great rudiment player, He played the drum language incredibly well.Roy is an inventor of a new language...he plays with your mind, while he playing the new language.

I'm just not quite sure why cameramen (producers perhaps?) of that era insisted on all of these wild close ups and camera angles. I'd like to slap them silly. I just want to see these fabulous musicians perform.

Bottom line: Roy Haynes is a soulful drummer with the spirit, technique, muscle, and stamina to be the great drummer that he is.

That drum solo was a perfect example of the "hit everything within arms's reach" mentality

upp.. steven is the sole non-like, it seems. even if roy does over-reach and it doesn't match with the song, i'd still like to hear one of roy's bandmates talk about it. i'd be willing to bet it was plenty significant in the realm of time-line/cultural/that era's relevance; for reason's we're not immediately privy to. and even if not, that's still an impressive expression.

Too long a solo and no relevance to the music.
