Roy Brown was an even bigger influence on Jackie Wilson, than on Elvis. Just listen! Roy Brown was IMPORTANT! And he's fun to listen to. His "Hard Luck Blues" heavily influenced Elvis' arrangement and singing of his first big hit, "Heartbreak Hotel." That sounds more like Brown than this song, even though it's technically the same song.

Elvis even said were he got ideas from gHe gave credit were credit is due... Elvis didn't steal music he loved it and wanted to sing it because he loved it but Elvis was the big bang in music ... if it wasn't for him we may still playing how mush is that little doggie in the window. Like it or not Elvis did change things.. he didn't try to make rock n roll he started singing having fun people started fighting over it. Banning him trying to end Elvis all together because he was having fun singing great songs he open the door for freedom for music to change and a lot of Americans to change... made it ok to say hey i like muddy waters or anyone..most of us were born after it was ok to like who u like now its nothing to us but then it was big deal the change hasn't happen yet new to people. People hated Elvis then. He was just a kid who loved singing blues having fun..

Born in 1925, Roy Brown brought out "Good Rockin Tonight" in 1947, hit the charts in June 1948, covered also by Wynonie Harris and made into a classic by Elvis on his second record at Sun. According to "Rhythm and Blues in New Orleans", this record first turned the national spotlight on to New Orleans

Arthur "Big Boy"Crudup who wrote and song "That's Alright Mama" in 1946 and Roy Brown who wrote and sung "Good Rockin Tonight" in 1947 are the true pioneers of Rock n Roll not Elvis or Bill Hally, they just took this material and brought it to white audiences. Give credit to where credit is dude, history dose not lie.
