An acoustic and vocal cover of Rotten Apple, written by Alice in Chains from the album Jar of Flies.
I've started trying to practice a few different vocal techniques to 1) prevent myself from burning out my voice and 2) to try and experiment with my range (at the suggestion by another youtuber, thanks man!). This song was a great way to do that, and I hope that I did at least a decent job so that it is entertaining to listen to. I did a shortened intro on this song to speed it up to the vocal parts, I hope to one day go back over and possibly remake this upload using an electric guitar opening and try to make it have more of an authentic sound, plus I will use any excuse I can get to wail on my recently purchased original Dunlop Crybaby :D
This is definitely one of my top 3 AiC songs of all time, and usually it's #1 for most people I talk to who are AiC fans. Jar of Flies is definitely my favorite album and I'm glad that I was able to sit and be patient enough to learn this one. This song is powerful as hell. Melancholy as it may make me feel, there is an unfathomable beauty about this song; be it Jerry's mini-Crybaby solos, Mike's kickass bass line, the slow but rockin' drumming, or Layne's harmonies... As always, it all comes together to form a beautiful song, and no doubt one of the many crown jewels of Jar of Flies.
I hope all of you enjoy it, and I dedicate this video to all of you who have stood by me and watched me grow and progress (hopefully in a positive direction) as a musician and a singer. Stay tuned for more potential videos on the horizon, including possibly a few re-do's and some new stuff. I've recently been working on my own songwriting as well as learning new covers, so keep an eye out for some of my own original work in the future.
All rights go to Jerry Cantrell, Sean Kinney, Mike Inez, Layne Staley (RIP), and Alice in Chains. I do not own this song, but I have a damn good time playing it. Thank you AiC for a musical masterpiece.
Thanks for watching, and as always, long live AiC! Thumb it up and favorite if you liked it.
