Rosetta Stone - If paradise is half as nice 1977

(Original by Amon Corner 1968)

If paradise is half as nice

as heaven that you take me to

Who needs paradise I'd rather have you.

They say paradise is up to the stars

But I needn't sigh because it's so far

'Cos I know it's worth a heaven on earth

To me where you are.

A look from your eyes

a touch of your hand

And I seem to fly

to some other land

When you are around

my heart always pounds

Just like a brassband.

If paradise is half as nice

as heaven that you take me to

Who needs paradise I'd rather have you

Oh yes I'd rather have you.

La la la la la la la ....

They say paradise is up to the stars

But I needln't sigh because it's so far

'Cos I know it's worth a heaven on earth

To me where you are.

A look from your eyes

a touch of your hand

And I seem to fly

to some other land

When you are around

my heart always pounds

Just like a brassband.

If paradise is half as nice

as heaven that you take me to

Who needs paradise I'd rather have you

Oh yes I'd rather have you.

La la la la la la la ....

If paradise is half as nice

as heaven that you take me to

Who needs paradise I'd rather have you.

Oh yes I'd rather have you.

La la la la la la la ....

My sister broke my Rosetta Stone record like three inches off the outside but i could still play the rest of the songs. I kept that record for years, then i found it on Amazon.com and had bought a record player so i bought it again, i still have both the first ones cover is all worn out but i will never part with it or the new one, named my first son Andrew Joseph :)

The original is sung by the Italian singer Patty Pravo(song written by Lucio Battisti, words by Mogol), and the covered by the The Amen Corner.

@gotham61 Err, nope. Their - Rosetta Stone's - LP wasn't issued until 1978. IM left the BCR's in 1976.

@haj1909 This clip is probably from 1976 when IM was still in BCR. Guitarist is Andy LeGear.

@Maysoun2009 Ian Mitchell (for some reason not present in this clip - must've been sick or something) was in both bands.

@bagzie This song was was a big lump of pop crap even in 1969, it's just that there have been so many terrible covers, the original now seems credible. Have you heard Cheryl Baker's version? Dreadful.
