"Move it on over" (1959) - Country-boogie. Born in Boaz, Alabama, in 1926, Rose Maddox was an American country singer/ songwriter/ fiddle player. The first time she recorded "Move it on over" was in 1948, for the label "Four Star Records", together with her brothers Cal, Henry, Fred and Don as "The Maddox Brothers & Rose. This group was often considered to be "the greatest hillbilly band of all time". The group disbanded, Rose went solo and re-issued this title in 1959 for the label Capitol. Why isn't she in the Country Music Hall of Fame? She had so big an impact that only few people can compare.

When I was around 15 or 16 I was introduced to Rose Maddox back in the dressing room @ the Big D Jamboree here in Dallas, Tx. by Lawton Williams. He sang there and also had recorded too. I sang there too, that's how I got to meet Rose. I will never forget that night. She was a very nice person. Rose, Martha Carson and Patsy Cline were my favorites back then.

Great version of this Hank Williams classic. Maddox has a great distinctive voice.

I always thought that Rose Maddox looked like Millie Helper, the hyperactive next door neighbor on the Dick Van Dyke Show.

GREATLY enjoyed listening to this! A wonderful version of one my favorite Hank Williams tunes. The late great Rose certainly was a POWERHOUSE of a singer! My mom has told me of how popular they were here in Calif back in the 40's & 50's. Now I can see (and hear) why! As someone else commented here, she had almost a rockablilly sound...I'm sure she influenced Wanda Jackson. THANKS for posting this delightful "blast from the past"! And may you & yours have your HAPPIEST holiday season ever!

That 1947 picture looks just like they dressed on KTRB Modesto every afternoon. I used to stop in the station to watch the shows. There was Chester Smith, Al Brown, and Maddox Bros and Rose. Thanks for posting, brings back good memories, when California was a 'GOOD' place to live.

Great video, enjoyed it. One of Hanks best songs. It is kind of funny to hear a woman sing it though.
