Blueprint is the third album by Irish guitarist Rory Gallagher. It was released as a vinyl record in 1973 but was re-released in 2000 in the CD format with two new tracks.
Album profile
Previously, as a solo artist, Gallagher had preferred to play only in a three piece band; power trios were his signature set, however, he liked the sound of keyboards, and decided to embellish his sound by adding keyboards into the band line-up. His new drummer, Rod de'Ath had just replaced Wilgar Campbell, Gallagher's former drummer, but he had earlier recommended Lou Martin as a keyboardist. This was the first album from Gallagher to feature another performer, and later he described him as an "A-1 player" in his interviews. The new line-up clicked and remained together for six years.
The band in this line-up played live on the BBC Two TV programme Old Grey Whistle Test featuring tracks including "Hands Off", "Seventh Son" and "Race the Breeze".
