JUST THE SMILE

Just the smile that is spreading all over her face,

Could warm up the room and set fire to the place.

Yes it could, you know it could.

Now the fog is clinging all over the town,

Put one foot in front then you just might fall down.

On the ground, she's in town.

But like the rain that is falling all over the land,

She cools down my mind when she touches my hand.

Feels so good, yeah so good.

Just the smile that is spreading all over her face,

Could warm up the room and set fire to the place.

Yes she could, you know it could.

@ MrAngrygary.....THANK YOU. I could have saved my breath. It's gotten so out of hand now, everyone citing this myth. It seems unfair to newer or younger listeners. There are no such reported interviews as it didn't happen. I've heard the supposed comparison citing everyone from Phil Keaggy, Billy Gibbons and Roy Buchanan amongst others. Cheers.

@ dictator54.......You won't find such an article (didn't happen), but it bothers me that a whole new legion of fans are being mis-informed. Woodstock?? Rory didn't even play Woodstock. In fact, taildragger53 was right in saying The Isle of Wight (where both played). This is as close as you'll get to the truth and it makes perfect sense to me. Rory fronting Taste, played on the Friday, put on a phenomenal show, returning for 5 encores. Jimi on the other hand, played on the Sunday amidst much upset, not the least being many equipment problems. Think about it; if someone had asked this question then (to a disappointed Jimi) don't you think it's just feasible (given Taste's success) that he may have answered as he supposedly did? Not to insult Rory, both men respected each other a great deal. This is the closest to the truth in years of research by those in the know. The same story has been told with Jimi citing any number of guitarists in Rory's place. Phil Keaggy through to Billy Gibbons. Cheers.

@ Vince Razzano.....The reason you didn't hear Rory on the radio was quite simple. He wasn't seeking fame or fortune, his love was composing his wonderful music and taking it to his audiences. Rory was one of those artists that you learned of (more often than not) through word of mouth. Unless perhaps, you were also a musician. He had NO wish to make singles or (God forbid) become mainstream.

I was fortunate to have seen Rory in concert so many times......I loved the guys enthusiasm for performing to the crowd. It was not unusual for him to do five or more Encores.....on one occasion he stated that he'd play all night, but he had to think about the Band being tired.....and the Management of the venue that was waiting to go home!A truly great performer who really gave it his all.......Rest in Peace Rory, and thank you so much for those wonderful nights!
