It was on this day in 1995, Rory Gallagher died. He was one of the most underrated guitar players. When Jimi Hendrix was asked "How does it feel to be the best guitar player in the world" his response "go ask Rory Gallagher"

I think it was the punk scene, though he went to a sex pistols gig and shortly afterwards decided to strip the band back to a three piece (a less expansive sound than he had with Lou Martin and Rod D'Arth), so hard to know, maybe the scene that went with it as opposed to the musicians, think he liked the power and energy of it but not the lack of musicianship, I'm not Rory though

Saw him in Cleveland, OH, in the early 80's. He waited to shake hands with everyone in the first few rows (including me). I was impressed with his simple approach. Too bad he was taken down by the disease that gets so many of us Irish. Does anybody know if this song is about Slade, or AC/DC or anyone in particular? I am very curious. Love to al.
