In 1974, when I was sixteen I bought an LP called "How To Play The Blues Guitar" by Stefan Grossman and Aurora (Rory) Block - I can tell you, it changed everything for me. So it wasn't Buddy Guy, or BB King or Robert Johnson that brought me to this music, it was Rory Block. I've heard Rory in concert, and she packs a lot of angst into a show, but that's the blues and she's got it bad. This woman can literally destroy a guitar, and not the way Pete Townsend does - she is a powerful guitarist and as far as I'm concerned, the premiere stateswoman of the blues.

ok, jc wasacz...I personally know Rory and will tell you right now...she makes a living playing and teaching music...she has worked her ass off since she was 16 years old doing what her heart has led her to do...she has had nothing but heartache and hard times dedicating her life to music! Why the hell would that bother you?? There are maybe a handful of woman that can even come close to playing the blues as authentically as she..so I am happy she is able to make a living playin and singin blues
