@ghiblix2 you know why nobody asks your opinion on hip hop? Cause you don't know shit. Mos Def and Common both were big way before Kanye (Talib arguably broke the scene at the same time), but Mos Def owns his own record label (which happens to have The Roots, the biggest hip hop act still touring signed to it) and Common's always been sick. Talib's got love from his city, and with one as big as NY that's all it takes.

@ghiblix2 Would you rather have a Lexus or justice? A dream or some substance? A Beemer, a necklace, or freedom?

more collabs between these 2 would not be a bad thing

acts are cool til they make enough cash to eat food and get a pad, then they've sold out and their music's cliche, seems talents exclusive to bands without pay...It's a fucking lifestyle that becomes a job that happens to pay really really well. The better they are at what they do, the more records they sell, the more money they make. Or would you prefer that talented motherfuckers work bullshit jobs and remain underground just so you can consider them your own little secret? .

@ghiblix2 man you really don;t know hip hop! start listenening to termanology, joel ortiz, jehst, skinny man and hip hop artist who are out in your own city! Common, Talib, mos def (especially) have been selling since around 92-94. if people actually listened to the lyrics instead of the hook or beat thats catchy then all mainstream artist would be broke! you need to understand what hip hop is about!

Manuva, Chali, Talib, MFDoom, Jemini, those guys will never be mainstream because the general population has shit taste when it comes to rap. That's why talentless posers like Lil Wayne and T-pain find fame while real cats get jack.

The beat at the end is amazingly disguting. I love it

@ghiblix2 i know what your saying bro, people go mainstream because they need the paper... But i still don't think they have to dull-down their lyrics... Kanye West lyrics went from being all mostly really witty lines with funny punchlines, and now he's just a bunch of corny punchlines with lyrics that don't seem to have much thought put behind it. And that's not true at all about Mos Def, Talib & Common... They've been selling perfectly fine before kanye came around. I see what you mean though.

@ghiblix2 there is NO problem with people making commercial hits, i totally agree, regardless of the artist. it's their passion, their art, they have every right to record whatever they feel is fit. and ya i forgot about radio royalties, which obviously builds up if its a hit

@ghiblix2 no one makes money off of selling albums, fact. the label does, the artist, nope not really. those guys make $20k+ off a single gig if its a good venue. kanye west didn't really do anything to change how any of those artists make money.
