You sound too sheltered. There are far more "freaked" out and freaky things in this world than this movie. Tame would be the right word to describe how it fares in comparison to truly freaky, sordid crap that the world holds. American teen suburban drama are almost complete abridgments of reality. Sordid humanity awaits no one's presence and stays where it is regardless of whether you ignore it. It is called the worst of humanity and the most thrilling to some. Come and see it sometime.
