Yea the internet plays a big part, but if you aint got millions of spondoolees to promote you on radio and concerts etc, its very difficult to get to the top. Look at Imelda May, has to have one of the greatest female voices today, has support from other big rock stars but none from corporate industry, resulting in everybody who likes Rocking music knowing who she is, but few beyond that.
