"Far East Man" is a song written by George Harrison and Ronnie Wood in 1974, recorded by Harrison for his 1974 album Dark Horse, and by Wood for his 1974 album, I've Got My Own Album to Do.

Lyrics:

While the world wages war

It gets harder to see

Who your friends really are

I don't wanna let him down

Gotta do what I can

I won't let him drown

He's a far east man

All these ups and those downs

Makes me question what love is

Is it a lie or worthwhile?

I can't let him down

Gotta do what I can

I won't let him drown

He's a far east man

Oh sometimes for sure don't take so long

Wondering if it is or if I'm wrong

Even then my heart seems to be the one in charge

Can only do what...

It tells me

I won't let him down

Gotta do what I can

I won't let him drown

He's a far east man

Looks like right here on earth

God, it's so hard at times

Somehow we'll let it slide

But I don't let him down

Gotta do what I can

I won't let him drown

He's a far east man

I won't let him down

Gotta do what I can

I won't let him drown

He's a far east man

It's not Mick Taylor playing slide guitar, it's George.

Read Ronnie's autobio. It's called Ronnie, and it's a real page-turner. He was born to a family of water gypsies.

It's Harrison for sure on slide. He could definitely play like that, his slide style wasn't uniform and it still sounds quite like him to me. He was a master at the instrument by then.

Great song ! in this song George Harrison Plays the Harmoniously SLIDE GUITAR (aways sounds great... just remember "How Do You Sleep" and the other songs with John Lennon's in his "imagine" album). This "TAKE" Sounds much Better, aTwo Voices (George Harrison and Ronnie Wood) are perfectly combined Thanks for Sharing! ps: ..who knows, but a "Dupla" Harrison-Wood would probably have been so fruitful as Richards-Wood ... In fact sound like "Tattoo You" (1981) or Derek and The Domino's

The slide guitar is really nerve-wrecking! What a crappy sound! I prefer George's version by far ...

There is no chance Ron Wood is playing slide on this. Only one man can play like that: MIck Taylor.

Seems like George delivered the best and shortest version with his old friend Ron Wood on Ron's album. The version on George's Dark Horse LP was 6 minutes, due to a layered sax break in the middle. The singing is lower and clearer on Ron's LP, with guitars out front. Bill Jones' info is great, I'm glad Mick Taylor on the track. Ron Wood was only paid a musician's rate by Mick Jagger until Keith Richards and Charlie Watts guilt-tripped Jagger in the early 2000s, to make Ron a full Stones member.
