MODERN DAYMCCARTNEY.Should have recorded it like this...strictly acoustic. The melody and the emotional power of his voice reminds me of IF I FELL by The Beatles You can't hear this in the studio version. It's buried below the slick production. Hope this live version is relased on a CD.

Lucky for us, we get different versions and sound scapes of Ron's songs. The best songs can always be stripped down and still sound amazing.

Swede, Ron has always sounded best while playing without the help of his very talented band. That's all I'm saying. And, as the years go by, Ron's guitar playing improves drastically, lessening the need for a band. The producers that he's worked with almost always miss the mark. I cannot think of a single tune where the use of a band helped a Ron Sexsmith song. I'm honestly not trying to be too critical. I just think it's easy to degrade a sound that starts out as perfect.

I think your criticisms are too broad-brush. I haven't always liked some of the production efforts on some of Ron Sexsmith's recordings, but the man has a native intelligence that has to be acknowledged. He's worked with some very fine musicians and some very fine producers. People have stepped up to the plate for him, there hasn't been that much ineptitude, there's been a lot of beauty well expressed.
