Mark Knopfler is one of the most talented musician's to have come along in the last 50 years. This lesson is on one of his acoustic masterpieces, *Romeo And Juliet*. The song first appeared in 1980 on Dire Straits' third album Making Movies, and remains a standard in Mark's performances and a fan favorite still today. The song is played in Open G Tuning with a capo at the third fret, and uses what is really a free-form picking/strumming technique.

Mate your really good, and you play so nice, but your really fast, it may just be your way, but could you please do another copy, slower, your far to fast for me to keep up with, please assume we are idiots, and give us time to put our fingers on the strings, just as i get in the right place your several places a head, could learn so much from you, i cant play back to look again if my fingers are on the guitar, Please dont think i am complaining, its just too fast. thank you. i think people that are proficient at things, forget that we want to learn but its too fast for us, bit like leaving your phone number on your answer phone, we say it so fast people must phone several times to get it. thank you again for the video, please do one slower, I am from Birningham England, even our own people call us dummi brummies, Great song and thank you.

Nice job and so true with Knopfler. Strum it first and sing it then re-visit the detail. Most of his songs are simple chord wise but, his fills well you know. You said it best they're a work in progress like no other player. What actually happens is a told the man himself is he use a pick a lot while recording, for the punch volume you with a pick but, live just watch enjoy a genius and forget about getting anything from viewing him. What happens for me is any of his songs that I cover I end up adding to what he plays a bit by accident. And I sing better than Mark sorry Mark, so it's a break even. The Man's Too Strong is big crowd pleaser. I am an excellent guitar I play professionally full time so as I do with all the covers I play after I have them to my satisfaction I don't listen to the original. Knopfler though is an exception. He's just too good. Nice job. Peace, M.A.

I have known many quiet white boy musicians such as this guy. They piss all over my playing. One of my old flatmates from thirty-plus years ago is now such an accomplished bass player he'd put Sting to shame on all bass instruments. As you imply, you can't judge a book. And, for sure - Rock on indeed!

This beautiful song takes me back to my adolescence. I woke up this morning with it in my head, over thirty years later and now have to learn to play it. Thanks for the lesson.

Now, see, If I saw this guy walking down the street, same clothes, no guitar, my first thought would be "vacationing Dutch banker"... You never know who's got a ton of talent and soul. Neil here has a ton of both. Rock on, Vacationing Dutch Banker!!!

I've been playing this song wrong for 10 years! Finally decided to go and see how it's really played, and, imaging, an open G tuning! Thanks Neil, great performance! Mark Knopfler is one of my favorites, and this is one of my favorite songs.
