I thought it was kind of tragedy that this song was nowhere to be found on the internet, so I decided to upload it. No copyright infringement intended or whatever I'm supposed to say about that.

From their "Album 1700," released in 1967, which also had the single "Leaving on a Jet Plane" on it.

I think this song is the most important thing I learned in college. As a biochemistry professor, I have taught it to my undergraduate classes because it is so full of meaning. Do read the lyrics of the first 3 verses. They are wonderful.

I use to listen to the song when my older brother played it everynight going to bed. 11 yrs younger than he I learned to appreciate the ole folk stuff. ordering what I lost. this is one of my favorites.

Actually this song is on YT - there's an old live performance by its writer, the great Eric Andersen. (nanny comment box won't let me include the link, but it's easily findable) Anyway, thanks for putting up the magnificent PP&M rendition - so brilliantly arranged and exquisitely executed, just like everything they did!

Damn good grooup PP&M they did not need wires 4 their axes and their songs stayed with you 4 days later, I know I saw them twice. I felt as though I lost a dear friend when Mary Travers passed away. I remember them singing "If I had a hammer" way back in the early 60's "Rollin home was a fav of mine so i guess most of their songs were favorites as well. They were GREAT
