Personally, the more I have to deal with Roland's products, the less and less impressed I am. You end up spending about the same amount on this stuff that you would for an American-made tube amp, and they're made in China and require all kinds of wiring upgrades to have a signal path that isn't muddier than a fuzz face pedal. I sent my Boss pedals down the road a long time ago due to lack of true bypass that was coloring my tone even when I didn't want it there. For beginners, sure, this isn't bad stuff. And to be fair, their keyboards aren't bad. But unfortunately, you get what you pay for.

I just bought this amp last week and got a call today trying to up sell me on this tone module.  No thanks, 300 dollars is almost half of what I paid for the amp.  Ask a non-guitar player who eric johnson is and then you tell me if it is worth it.  Is that the only "celebrity" they could find to endorse this rip off?  I am getting more pissed off the more I think about it.  They could have added a channel or simply increased the clean capabilities of the blues cube.  Like the man said,  for another 300 dollars I could have bought a serious tube amp set up!

Actually love the concept just not the price.

So, worse than the super-gimmicky faux tube packaging is the price of this little device: $299! That's right, spend $700 or $900 for one of these amps, then have the privilege of dropping another 3 bills on a little software dongle to give you the tone they could have just built in.Though truth be told, the tone IS built in, you just don't have access to it. Roland could have let users change and import settings via computer over USB like TC Electronics does w/their Tone Print pedals. But where's the money in that, right?

$300 for the Tone Capsule is quite a price! If the "tone module" would be free and downloadable, and if you could store them onboard the amp itself and switch back and forth with a knob, this feature would make more sense. The way it is now, I find the Tone Capsule a bit useless...

I Think The Only 300  E J Tone Capsules Are A marketing Ploy To Kick Off Sales. These Amps Already Are Priced At 799.00 + The Tone Capsules 300 $  Really You Could Buy A Nice Tube Amp For The Money Plus A Pedal Or Two. Pricing Is Not Average Musician Cost. : ) jcm 4444jcm youtube

Looking good Mitch! Can't wait to see what other tone capsules come out down the road. I would want to hear a Peter Green tone capsule.
